Speaker Bios:

Dr. Paul H. Brewbaker is the Principal of TZ Economics, a consultancy involved in corporate work and litigation support in Hawai‘i. His background in research on the Hawai‘i economy and financial risk analytics stems from a 25-year affiliation with Bank of Hawaii, concluding as its Chief Economist. He is a graduate of Stanford University, did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin, and received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hawai‘i. He has lectured extensively in international, monetary, and financial economics. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the American Finance Association, and the National Association for Business Economics, from which he received the Certified Business Economist designation.
Amelia Lim is Managing Director of CBRE Hotels Advisory in Hawai‘i. She brings more than 20 years of hospitality advisory and transaction experience throughout the United States and has worked in Hawai‘i since 2013.  Being one of the leading experts in commercial real estate, Ms. Lim advises many of the leading global, institutional and private investors with interests in hotels and resorts located in Hawai‘i and the Pacific Region.  Prior to joining CBRE Hotels, she served as an Executive Vice President for JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group. During her 17 years with the firm, she led teams involved in acquisition, due diligence assignments, brand/operator selection RFPs, market studies, development analyses, operational assessments and valuations on more than $5.5 billion in hospitality assets and portfolios. She has also arranged more than $2 billion in hospitality sale transactions.
Dr. Eugene Tian is the State Economist at the Hawai‘i State Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT).  His office conducts research on economic issues such as tourism, emerging industries, diversification, quality of life, innovation, energy, and taxation.  His team produces the official statewide short-range economic forecast on a quarterly basis and the long-range population and economic forecast every five years.  His team also produces the official State of Hawai‘i Data Book on an annual basis.
